My dream when coming over to the United States was to provide a better future for my family. I migrated over around 1993; I was about 18 years old. The transition and language barrier proved challenging, so I made it my mission to build my English language skills. My next goal was to seek out work and start contributing. 

After some time went by, I locked down a job in the concrete industry. This first job was a new path and opportunity for me to build my skill set.

The concrete industry had so many growth levels, but I had to start from the ground up. I built my knowledge from the very foundation of grading, forming, operating, and finishing. This experience was eye-opening and rewarding. After a few years in the company, I received a promotion to supervisor.  I then started on bigger jobs that included slabs and tilt-ups—climbing up the ladder as a foreman and manager, running big commercial projects. 

Currently, with over 25+ years in the industry and being part of the union, my dream finally came true.
